What is TMH Softball?

TMH Softball was formed by Brien Tuffly (Houston Bellaire HS), James McClanahan (Fort Bend Elkins HS), and Billy Hicks (College Station A&M Consolidated HS) to host a high school, select, and league team coaches clinic for the coaches of the greater Houston, Texas area. They felt that there was a need for a good coaches' clinic put on by the local coaches for the local coaches to make Texas softball even better.

The 1st Gulf Coast Softball Coaches clinic was held in January 2005 at the Gulf Greyhound Park using a similar idea from the Houston area football coaches clinic. TMH thought that this would be an entertaining way to learn and have fun with fellow coaches of the Houston area and the entire region. The speakers for the 1st year were Jo Evans (TAMU), Rick Church (Blinn College), Chris Malveaux (McNeese), Rick McClain (ETBU), Angela Dickson (UH asst), Rhonda Foster (Pasadena Dobie HS), and Benita Dunlavy (Tomball HS).  There were a total of 78 coaches registered for the event.

With the success of the 1st clinic, plans were formed for the 2nd clinic in January 2006. The speakers for 2006 were the Texas A&M Staff, Patti Maher (Purdue), Sarah Dawson (La. Tech), Rick Church (Blinn), Laneigh Clark & Michelle Hyden (Pearland), Wade Wilson (Brenham), and Tim Stuewe (Alamo Heights). A Thursday night Happy Hour was provided by the clinic staff at this clinic. There were 155 coaches registered for the 2006 clinic. The 2007 clinic hosted over 235 coaches as Patty Gasso and Howard Dobson (OU), Laneigh Clark (Pearland), Rick Church (Blinn), Howard Jones (UH) gave presentations. The 2008 Clinic set a record for attendance with approximately 280 coaches registered to hear presentations from Pat Murphy (Alabama), Teresa Wilson (Texas Tech / now asst. at Arizona), Cindy Mosteller (Garland HS), Chris Southard (Frisco Wakeland HS).

In the following pages, details for the 2009 clinic are presented. TMH thinks that there is a great mix of high school and college coaches again. So, come out and join us on January 15-16, 2009 at the Gulf Greyhound Park in La Marque for a great time and a chance to improve our skills. You never know, you just might hit the jackpot!!!!
